FIRST GRADE NEWS 5-21-2010
RELIGION—We learned about Pentecost.
MEMORY—Wed. :
The Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.
Fri.:
I have had God’s help to this very day.
SPELLING—None
READING—We finished our reading series and will start
reviewing.
MATH—We finished our chapter and will work on math families.
SCIENCE—We are learning about forces. (push, pull)
REMINDERS
We had a fun walk to the park and back
with our learning partners. We picked up trash on the way and released our
butterflies when we arrived.
We even had time to play for a few minutes before
returning.
FIELD TRIP—Each child needs to bring a
lunch and drink on Tuesday.
We will eat our lunch at a park that is located
just past the zoo.
The children may bring money to buy a souvenir at
the zoo gift shop. If your child needs to sit in a booster seat he/she needs to
bring it on Tuesday.
I will have directions to the zoo for drivers.
We will have a
special speaker on Thursday morning.

Advice:
Keep your child reading this summer.
Research has shown that children lose reading
skills over the summer months.
Help your child start second grade on a strong note
and encourage them to read books!
(practicing counting money and telling time
